Gong Integration

How to connect your Gong call library to Sondar using OAuth or API Key, import recordings, and manage your integration.

Sondar supports two ways to connect your Gong call library

  1. OAuth: Recommended for most teams

  2. API Key: For teams whose IT or security policies restrict OAuth

Both methods give you access to the same recordings once connected.

1. Choose your connection method

OAuth

API Key

Setup

One-click, browser-based

Admin enters credentials manually

Who sets it up

You must have a "admin" role in both systems (Gong and Sondar)

Sondar admin

(Request Gong API key from your Gong admin)

Best for

Most teams

Teams that can't use OAuth

If you're unsure which to use, start with OAuth. If your IT or security team restricts third-party OAuth flows, use the API Key method.

2. Connect via OAuth

NOTE: You must have a "admin" role in both systems (Gong and Sondar) to authorize this integration via OAuth

1. From the Settings page go to Integrations tab → Meeting Tools → Click the connect button on the Gong (Oauth) option.

2. Follow the on-screen prompts to authorize Sondar securely via Gong's OAuth flow. (We only import calls you tell us to!)

3. Once connected, you will see the import from Gong option within User Interviews.

3. Connect via API Key (Admin only)

NOTE: You must have a "admin" role in Sondar to authorize this integration.

The API Key integration is configured once at the workspace level by a Sondar admin. Once set up, any user can import recordings using the same import flow described above.

Step 1: Get your Gong API credentials

In Gong, go to Admin Settings → Ecosystem → API → API Keys tab.

Click on Get API Key Generate an Access Key and Access Key Secret, and note your Gong API Base URL (e.g. https://api.gong.io).

Step 2: Add the integration in Sondar

Go to Settings → Integrations. In the Meeting Tools section, find the Gong (API Key) card and click Connect.

Enter your credentials:

  • Gong API URL — your Gong API base URL

  • Access Key — from Gong's API settings

  • Access Key Secret — from Gong's API settings (masked field)

Click Connect. Sondar will validate your credentials against the Gong API before saving.

On success, the card updates to a connected state and the integration is ready for your whole workspace.

Note: Your Access Key Secret is never returned to the frontend after saving. To rotate credentials, disconnect and reconnect with your new keys.

4. Using your Gong recordings

Once your recordings have been imported, regardless of which connection method you used, use the Ask AI feature to get answers to your questions. Ask AI is particularly good at identifying patterns and themes across a collection of call recordings. See the Quick Start Guide for an overview of its analysis capabilities.

5. Disconnecting your Gong integration

OAuth: Go to Settings → Integrations → Gong (OAuth) → Manage, then click Disconnect.

API Key: Go to Settings → Integrations → Gong (API Key) → Manage, then click Disconnect.

Once disconnected, Sondar will no longer have access to your Gong recordings.

6. FAQ

Which connection method should I use — OAuth or API Key? OAuth is simpler to set up and is recommended for most teams. Use the API Key method if your organisztion's security policy restricts OAuth authorization flows to third-party apps.

Can I have both OAuth and API Key connected at the same time? No, its your choice which path you prefer.

What criteria are used to filter the calls that are imported? The integration only imports external calls and automatically ignores any recordings marked as "isPrivate" within Gong.

Do I have control over which host's recordings are imported? Yes, there is an option within the integration settings to restrict imports to recordings associated with a specific host.
